Honey is a natural antibiotic. Couple all these fun facts with the vitamins, minerals, immunity, and metabolism boosting qualities of fresh pineapple and coconut milk (not to mention the probiotics in the yogurt), and this smoothie should be at the top of the list to make!!
Now that you know the benefits, what does this thing taste like? It's creamy and sweet with brilliant texture. The two dominant flavors you get are the lemon and the ginger. Lemon and ginger together produce a creamy flavor, so the beverage is all-around delicious!
-1 cup of plain yogurt (I use Siggi's)
-1 frozen banana
-1/2 cup fresh pineapple
-1/4 cup coconut milk
-1/2 lemon, juiced/grate the rind
-1 heaping teaspoon of fresh ginger, grated
-1 teaspoon turmeric (make a batch: 1/4 cup turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper (facilitates the absorption of turmeric) and 1/2 cup water, in sauce pan on medium heat until it forms a thick paste, happens quickly! then cool and store in glass jar in the refrigerator)
-1 heaping teaspoon honey
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth, garnish with additional turmeric. ENJOY!
